I, Philip Prince have been in the breed for 30 years, I started off with the 'Anderma' affix. I purchased a beautiful female as my foundation female for my Kennel. She was bred by Janet Thompson from the 'Jansher' Kennel.
Shortly after this myself and my friend became partners and shared the 'Anderma' affix.
We exhibited our dogs at Championship show level and did very well.
I met Kerry Ayling at the dog shows / dog clubs and sometimes she would handle the 'Anderma' dogs.
When Kerry and I got together, we decided we would like to have our own affix, so we decided to end the 'Anderma' Kennel.
I, Kerry Ayling have been in the show side of the breed for 24 years, my parents used to show and train German Shepherds so I would say I was born in to the love of the breed.
I started going to shows with my Grand dad (Owen) who exhibited under the 'Kathowen' affix but then unfortunately some years later he passed away, however I had retained a dog from his kennels called 'Kathowen Alexander'. Alex as he was called sadly died at 14 half years and was my main dog, he went everywhere with me, I still like to think he is always with me now.
After Owen sadly passed away I started under the affix of 'Kamakin' and had some great dogs sired by , Import - 'Lauser von Hasenborn', 'International Champion Gayville's Nilo', Import 'Yago vom Stiegerhof', 'Carakris Nero', 'Korado Avax' ('Natz vom Stiegerhof' son).
They were all Championship show winners.
My affix 'Kamakin' was also discontinued as Philip and I got together.
Of course we fell in love and founded our new Kennel name of 'Shernaa'. We are now doing very well within the show scene and enjoying the dogs together, we make a great team.
We are members of the SV and the WUSV and all of our dogs are Kennel Club registered. 'Shernaa' dogs compete at the highest level in England and Europe.
The best moment so far for us was competing at the World German Sieger in 2007, where we were awarded an excellent placing for our young female 'Shernaa Tikka'. There are few kennels in the Uk that have actually competed at the Sieger never mind being awarded such a high placing with a UK bred dog, which makes this experience very special. Shernaa Tikka went on to achieve VA 1 British Siegerin at the British Sieger in 2008, Tikka has marked History as the 1st VA 1 Female in the UK in the Working Class for the German Shepherd Dog.
We are very proud of our dogs and the bloodlines of our dogs, and we are very particular with regards to any bloodlines we introduce in our breeding programme.
The future of 'Shernaa' looks very promising as we strive / aim for some very important attributes within our dogs:
Temperament, health, strength, colour, quality coat, construction, movement, dark eyes, dark mask, correct dentition, 2 descended testicles, excellent hip and elbow status.
Most importantly we like to keep the 'Shernaa' dogs very .....HAPPY DOGS.
